Can you summarise this video using your own words?
ReplyDeleteThe video explains how British people used to give very polite-sounding comments that were actually hidden insults. Instead of shouting or being direct, they used soft tones and gentle phrases that sounded kind but were often quite hurtful. Expressions like “Bless your heart” or “You do try, don’t you?” were examples of how people could criticise someone in a quiet but very effective way.
What did you think of the photos? When do you think they were taken?
I thought the photos were really interesting because they showed a very traditional and old-fashioned style. They looked like they were taken in the 1950s, 60s or 70s, based on the clothes, hairstyles and colours. They gave the video a nostalgic atmosphere.
Do you know the meaning of the word “quaint”?
Yes, quaint means something that is old-fashioned in a nice or charming way. For example, a small village or an old shop can be described as quaint.
I have nothing to correct here. I asked the question about the meaning of quaint because the word was stuck in my mind all the time while I watched this video.
