TedEd is a great tool for language learning. The videos in this channel are short, but, at the same time, extremely interesting and informative. Besides, the topics are very varied so you can enrich your vocabulary in many different areas of knowledge.
Let's answer some questions about this one:
- What is a narwhal?
- How can you tell a narwhal's age?
- Is telomere length a reliable tool when it comes to determining the future health of a human?
- What is imflammaging?
- What is biological age?
• What is a narwhal? A narwhal is a type of whale known for having a long spiral tusk (it’s like the “unicorn of the sea”).
ReplyDelete• How can you tell a narwhal’s age? You can tell a narwhal’s age by counting the layers in its tusk.
• Is telomere length a reliable tool when it comes to determining the future health of a human? Not really, telomere length is a promising but imperfect marker of aging.
It cannot reliably predict future health on its own.
• What is inflammaging? Inflammaging is chronic low-level inflammation that increases as we get older.
It happens because immune proteins stay elevated with age, even when we’re not sick.
• What is biological age? Biological age refers to how well your body is actually functioning — how much cellular and organ damage you’ve accumulated and your risk for health problems.
It’s different from chronological age, because people age at different rates depending on genetics, stress, health, and lifestyle.
Hello Elisa,
DeleteThis is perfect as usual. There's only one thing I'd change: your risk of health problems.
And a little piece of trivia: did you know that only male narwhal's have the long spiral tusk? I found out yesterday. ;)
